Profesional Competencies of Metallurgical Engineer

Engineering discipline that deals with the behavior, production, transformation and processing of ferrous, non-ferrous and mineral materials, as well as intermetallic compounds and their mixtures, for usage in products for consumers and manufacturers.  The production of metals involves the processing of ores to extract the metal they contain, and the mixture of metals, sometimes with other elements, to produce alloys

This discipline points to the efficient and sustainable processing and transformation of metals through the use and integration of clean and safe technologies, materials, energy, environment management.

Metallurgical Engineering includes the following specialization areas:

  • Mining metallurgy
  • Transformation metallurgy
  • Materials forming
  • Casting and foundry
  • Iron and steel industry
  • Non-ferrous materials processing
  • New materials
