Engineering discipline that deals with the integrated design of automation system for diverse applications in industry, transportation, bioengineering, among other fields. Mechatronics engineers integrate mechanical, electrical and software components for designing, operating and maintaining automatic systems capable to perform tasks in an autonomous and independent way. Mechatronics engineering also includes the field of robotics (robots arms and mobile robots) with sensing and acting capabilities.

Mechatronics Engineering includes the following specialization areas:

  • Modeling and control of systems
  • Process control
  • Instrumentation
  • Sensors and actuators
  • Robotics
  • Electro-pneumatic and electro-hydraulic systems
